Brett Perlmutter founded and leads Google Cuba. Alongside Eric Schmidt, he was negotiator of the first and only two internet agreements between the US and Cuba, which placed critical infrastructure in the country to make uncensored platforms like YouTube available for the Cuban public. Perlmutter launched Google Chrome, Google Play, Google Analytics, and Google Toolbar in the country. In 2016, President Obama announced Perlmutter’s first connectivity project in Cuba, a space offering free, high-speed Wi-Fi for Cubans. Perlmutter was named a Forbes 30 Under 30 and started his career at McKinsey & Company. He received an MPhil from the University of Cambridge and completed his BA (magna cum laude) from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Benjamin Franklin Scholar, the president of his class for 3 years, and the Spoonman– the top honor given to a male student upon graduation.
