Cecil is a global talent development thought leader and innovator. His career spans roles from commercial, front-line revenue generating to leadership development team leadership and global enterprise talent development responsibility.
In his current role as Head of Talent Development, North America for Johnson & Johnson, he is responsible for end-to-end strategic integration of talent management for the region. In his previous role with Johnson & Johnson, he was responsible for developing the company’s future executive talent globally.
Cecil has led development experiences in various countries in Europe, Asia, Africa as well as the Americas. He has accelerated the development of talent from over 25 countries, creating unique experiences that significantly increase their ability to move into and be effective in C-suite level roles. To accelerate the organization’s innovation capability and external value proposition through its high potential talent, he created a novel development approach where top talent partners with innovative external healthcare start-ups and their CEOs to solve business model and capability problems. He evolved the platform to include healthcare centers, and their executives, currently on the front lines of delivering critical healthcare to communities.
He and his wife co-founded a 501c3 foundation, The Athena Educational Foundation, that provides scholarships to remove boundaries for college-bound students. Additionally, he authored the book, What to Pack? 21 Essential Stories to Take on Your College Journey, which supports college students in their crossroads moments and contributes a percentage of its profits to these scholarships.
Cecil is currently a PhD student in Global Leadership and Change at Pepperdine University; his research interest is trending toward Organizational Commitment and Psychological Contracts.
He holds an MS in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania. His capstone explored how employees “fall in love” with their organizations and the consequences. He is also a guest lecturer and adjunct professor in the Organizational Dynamics Program at Penn. He is also a proud alum of Hampton University, where he earned a BS in Business Management.
