Christa Mahlobo (She/Her) is a Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellow in the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania. She holds a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University. Her research focuses on uplifting factors that promote flourishing, and mitigating factors that are barriers to flourishing in Black Americans. Her research on the Humanities and Human Flourishing Project examines the arts and humanities as one primary factor that Black Americans have utilized throughout history to express hope, heal from collective trauma, and experience joy and wellbeing. As a certified yoga instructor (RYT-200), she also hosts workshops on contemplative practices such as mindfulness, meditation, and yoga that promote flourishing in members of the global majority.
