Nooshin is a PhD candidate in the anthropology department at the University of Pennsylvania. In her dissertation research she focuses on race, migration, and the politics of recognition for immigrant communities from the Middle East and North Africa in the post-9/11 American context. In particular, Nooshin is interested in how Iranian Americans, as an immigrant community with roots in the Middle East and North Africa, seek political representation through lobbying and grassroots organizing to make their voices heard. Nooshin received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English literature from University of Esfahan, Iran in 2009 and 2012.
